The Tufts University Women's Lacrosse program has returned to the national stage under third-year head coach Courtney Farrell. After narrowly missing an NCAA Tournament berth in 2014, the Jumbos advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 last spring.

Farrell's 2015 team earned the program's first NCAA berth since 2011 and won a second-round game at Messiah 14-7. In the very competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), Tufts advanced to the conference championship semi-final also for the first time since 2011. They lost to two-time defending national finalist and 2012 NCAA champion Trinity College 8-7 in overtime.

During Farrell's first year at the helm in 2014, she directed Tufts to a 10-6 mark overall and a 6-4 record in the NESCAC. That improved upon the team's 7-8 overall record and 3-7 mark in the league during the season prior to her arrival.

Tufts placed two players on the 2015 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America First team - as many as any team in the county - with Emily Wright and Caroline Ross. The Jumbos joined College of New Jersey, Cortland and NESCAC rival Middlebury as the four teams with two players on the All-America first team.

The Jumbos not only succeeded on the field during the 2015 season, but were also one of the top academic teams in the nation. The IWLCA recognized the Jumbos as an Academic Honor Squad for 2015. The team is also actively involved in community service including the Yards for Yeardley and Big Sister of Mass Bay programs.

Tufts All-American Hedy Veith joins the Jumbo coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.

was a four-year starter for Coach Shute’s Tufts teams from 2016-19. She was a two-time IWLCA All-American for the Jumbos, earning first-team honors in 2019 and third-team recognition in 2018.

During the 2019 team’s “Final Four” season, Veith repeated as an IWLCA Pilgrim Region first-team selection and was the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-Conference first-team selection. She led the team with 39 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.

A three-time NESCAC All-Academic Team selection, Veith graduated from Tufts in 2019 with a degree in economics and community health. She also earned IWLCA Academic Honor Roll accolades as a player.

Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Veith was on the lacrosse and field hockey teams at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School.

Courtney Grygiel is in her second season on the Tufts University women's lacrosse coaching staff.

A 2019 Tufts graduate, Grygiel was a senior on the Tufts team that year which made the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA "Final Four." She started all 22 games and finished sixth on that team in scoring with 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points. Her 18 assists were second on the team. In 59 games overall during four years (2016-19) at Tufts, Grygiel scored 32 goals with 28 assists for 60 points.

Originally from Andover, Massachusetts, Grygiel earned a Child Study and Human Development degree from Tufts. She went on to receive a Master's degree in Special Education and Teaching from Merrimack College in 2020. She currently works as a Special Education Teacher for the Pentucket (Mass.) school system.

Eric Rhoda is in his third season with the Tufts University women's lacrosse coaching staff. He works with the goalies.

In his first year with the team (2019), Tufts earned the program's first-ever NCAA "Final Four" berth. Goalie Audrey Evers was an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-New England second-team pick that year. The team shut out two opponents during the season. Rhoda currently works with junior goalie Molly Laliberty, who was selected US Lacrosse Magazine 2021 Division III Women's Preseason Goalie of the Year.

Prior to Tufts, Rhoda worked as roaming goalie coach for the Independent School League (ISL), working with Roxbury Latin, St. Mark's, St. Sebastian's, Rivers School, Belmont Hill School and Middlesex School. He has worked with numerous other schools in a coaching career that started in 1999.

Rhoda was a collegiate goalie at Endicott College and Eastern Connecticut State University. He played a year of semi-pro box lacrosse with the Vermont Voyageurs in 2009.

At South Windsor, Connecticut High School Rhoda helped lead the team to two Division II state championship games and was the 1996 All-State goalie.
